The PSAT Examination
Should I take the PSAT?
Should I prep for the PSAT?
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Student Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a practice test offered by the College Board as a preparation tool for the SAT. The PSAT is also the first step for any student who is interested in qualifying for National Merit recognition. Strong, highly motivated students should prep for the PSAT since this extra focus on the test might boost their score to qualify for National Merit recognition.
PSAT dates for the 2008 - 2009 school year are October 15th or 18th. Students register for this test at the high school. For additional information, check with the counseling department at your high school.
Every bit of familiarization, practice, and time spent preparing for the SAT, including the PSAT, will prove to be beneficial to every student.
