Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for the SAT Prep Course?

You may register on-line or print a form and mail or fax it to us. Please register early since many classes fill up quickly. If you need additional help, please contact us.

What is the fee for the SAT Prep Course?

The course fee is $272, which includes a full length practice SAT, 16.5 hours of instruction, a textbook, and a workbook of student materials.

Once I have registered, what happens if I need to cancel?

A $25 fee will be charged for cancellations made 7 days or more prior to the start of the course. There is a $50 fee for a cancellation within 6 days of the first class date.

When should I take the SAT exam?

Good algebra and geometry skills are necessary for the math section. Since the SAT is an exam for college admissions, you are also expected to have reasonably strong reading and writing skills. You should challenge yourself by taking the toughest classes you can handle at your high school. Most students take the SAT during the 11th grade or at the latest during the fall of the senior year.

When should I take the SAT Prep Course?

Some students prefer to take the SAT Prep course immediately prior to the SAT exam. Other students choose to take the SAT Prep course when it fits well into their time schedule. Some like to take the course a couple months in advance in order to have additional time to practice exam skills.

Is a lot of work expected outside of class time?

The more the better! The course works to develop students’ skills but practice makes perfect. For significant gains in an SAT score we assign homework with the expectation that students will complete the work. However, the course is not graded. Students are asked to indicate a level of “out-of-class preparation” on the Student Profile, which is sent home with the student at the end of the last class.

What if I can’t attend all the classes?

Before signing up for the SAT Prep course, double-check your schedule so that this problem can be avoided. Each class is specific to one part of the SAT exam. You will miss the preparation for that part of the test if you miss a class. You may talk with the teacher or with another student so that you can work to make up some of the missed material. It may be possible for you to attend the missed class at another school in the area. If you want to attend a class session at another school, you need to contact us.

What if I must arrive late to a class?

Each class begins promptly at the scheduled time. Any late arrival is a disruption so please enter quietly and courteously with your class materials ready. You will be asked to sign in at the break.

Can I attend one of these courses at a high school other than my own?

Most definitely, yes! What is most important is that you select the course that fits your schedule. View the course schedule.

What if my high school doesn’t offer an SAT Prep course?

Click here to view the course schedule. Often there is an SAT Prep course at another school that might work out for you.

Would you like to start an SAT Prep course at your school?

The SAT Prep course is offered in high schools through the PTSA, Booster clubs, or the school administration. Any other school-related club would be able to offer the course as a primary fund-raiser since we give back to the group a portion of the registration fee to support student activities or scholarships. Contact us with a contact name/phone number and we can take it from there.

What are the SAT II: Subject Tests?

These are one-hour multiple-choice tests that measure your knowledge of particular subjects and your ability to apply that knowledge. May universities require or recommend two or more SAT II’s for admission or placement. Students must check the requirements of their selected universities.
